Marquette Choral Society is a mixed-voice adult choir comprising approximately 100 singers who come from a four-county region in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

We perform four to five live choral concerts annually, each featuring fresh repertoire and many in collaboration with orchestral musicians and guest soloists, and work with regional radio stations to spread our music to a wider audience. We also commission and premiere pieces by accomplished composers, and often feature thematic programming that emphasizes collaboration.

The MCS is led by a dedicated community-based board of directors who contribute professional skills and experience to help us fulfill our mission.

The Marquette Choral Society is committed to maintaining a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in our performance group and in our leadership. We believe that when people feel respected and included, they can be more creative, innovative, and empowered to share their experiences and ideas, making MCS successful.

Our Vision

Marquette Choral Society will be recognized as being a leading choral performance group for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Our Mission

  • Education - We welcome high school, university and adult singers to join us in learning masterworks from all periods, and periodically travel to perform in other venues.

  • Collaboration – We work creatively and harmoniously with composers and other musicians and strive to bring our audiences an intriguing variety of music.

  • Recognition - We encourage choral music in the Upper Peninsula by presenting the annual Upper Peninsula Choral Leadership Award.
